Deniz Dortok is a London-based composer and sound designer working across screen, theatre, and concert music. His work explores storytelling, text, repetition and gesture, shaping sound through the relationships between tone, texture and form.

He graduated from the University of Manchester with a first-class honours degree in Music and recently completed his Master’s in Composition at the Royal College of Music, where he studied with Ken Hesketh, Deirdre Gibbins, Catherine Kontz and Nick Moroz. He was twice awarded the Andrew Downes Prize for his composition portfolio.

Upcoming stage credits include sound design for the Arcola Theatre’s new production of Henrik Ibsen’s The Master Builder (adapted by David Edgar, directed by Mehmet Ergen), alongside works staged at the BFI (Straight 8 Competition 2023) , Edinburgh Fringe (Catfish the Cabaret, 2023) , and King’s Head Theatre (The Sequel, 2026). His concert pieces have been performed internationally at venues including the Greenwich SOUND/IMAGE Festival, Anthony Burgess Foundation, Schumann-Haus Leipzig, and Mostra Space Bucharest. He has collaborated with the Ligeti, Alkyona, and Jasmine Quartets, Riot Ensemble, serpentine.iii, cellist Ramon Jaffé, double bassist Enno Senft, and pianists Heidemarie Weisner and İlayda Deniz Oğuz.

Recent projects include the environmental album nocturna (re:natura) and a short opera with Tête à Tête and the Royal College of Music.
